The Municipality of South Kynouria is the governing authority of a predominantly rural and coastal area in the Arcadia regional unit of the Peloponnese. The Municipality faces the challenges common to many rural Greek communities — including depopulation, limited digital infrastructure, and dependence on seasonal tourism — and is actively pursuing innovation partnerships to build long-term resilience and improve quality of life for residents. As an Institutional member and GENeCITY partner, South Kynouria brings a rural governance perspective to the Pleiades ecosystem.

The Municipality of South Kynouria governs a scattered rural community along the eastern Peloponnese coastline, managing public services, environmental resources, and local economic development across a geographically dispersed area. The Municipality is developing its capacity for digital governance, exploring smart tools for municipal service management, environmental monitoring, and sustainable tourism development that respect the area's natural and cultural heritage.

Through its GENeCITY collaboration with Pleiades, South Kynouria is contributing to the development of digital twin and AI-driven planning tools that are relevant not just to large cities but also to smaller municipalities and rural communities — broadening the applicability and impact of smart governance technologies.
